real change, lasting impact

The Housing Authority was beyond impressed with what Cornerstone did with Jordan Downs Illumination. I was personally touched and blown away at the level of professionalism, thought and passion Cornerstone brought with the Jordan Downs effort. We thank you so much for including us in your endeavors.
— John R. King II, Director of Community Engagement, HACLA

Food Forward and Watts Labor Community Action Committee, two community partners who first collaborated through Cornerstone’s project Fellowship: A Play for Volunteers, continued working together to create the MudTown Farmers Market and Recovery Center. MudTown provides FREE fresh produce to low-income residents of South Los Angeles twice a month. The site serves thousands of families every month, and Cornerstone members look forward to volunteering here several times a year.

“It’s not hyperbole when I say that Cornerstone changed my life. The strength of the community … – the family that welcomed me in – taught me more than I ever expected to learn about my city and the people in it; and those bonds are built to last.”
— Jenny Marlowe, Community Participant in Urban Rez

Lee Maupin, a friend and community actor was homeless in Skid Row when we first met him. After his first show with us, Love on San Pedro, Lee was offered a paid acting job where he continues to travel the world and perform on stage. With this job, and his new found confidence he was able to get off the street and in to a place of his own.
